Apples and Peanut Butter Dip

    Apples and peanut butter are a familiar, well-liked combination by many kids. Here is how to enjoy them on the ketogenic diet.

    7 g coconut oil

    7g European-style butter

    5g peanut butter, Skippy Creamy Natural

    17.7 g apple, no skin, sliced thin

    Optional: 3–5 drops of flavors, such as caramel or chocolate, Bickford

    After measuring all ingredients, combine the coconut oil, butter, and peanut butter in a small microwavable bowl. Heat until melted, about 30 seconds. Stir the mixture well to combine. Add optional flavorings if using. It will be the consistency of a thick liquid after heating. Allow it to cool to room temperature and it will thicken into a “peanut butter” consistency. Serve with the sliced apple.

    Notes: You could also mince the apples very fine and freeze the mixture in silicone candy molds.
